Immigration Courts Struggle with Wave of Child Immigrants

National media outlets are turning their focus on the next step after initial detention for unaccompanied minors at the border – immigration court. Many courts across the country are already overwhelmed with cases. It is not uncommon for non-detained cases to drag on for years. The court system is adjusting their docketing system in an attempt to be more efficient, but only time will tell if the moves will help ease the caseloads. Read or listen to more from NPR here.
